Love from everyone at BellsBumz, especially little Zachary himself xx
We tested one of Chloe's Bells Bumz pocket nappy on our 16 month old and we were very happy with the fit and its performance.
Our youngest is going through a stage of leaking out of most of our current nappies (we have a variety of brands), but this nappy performed well in comparison, especially considering the nappy hasn't reached its full absorbency yet.
The nappy has an opening at both ends to allow for easier stuffing and therefore a better overall fit. The hemp/bamboo booster is slim and has great absorbency. The inside lining is lovely and soft. There were no complaints from the little one!
Not to mention the prints in this collection are beautiful. Its great to have a nappy that performs well and looks fabulous too.
Bells Bumz review
I was gifted Simply the Zest nappy and 1 hemp insert to try and review for The Baby Tribe.
First thoughts
My first thought of Simply the Zest nappy is the huge size for a BTP nappy!
This is a large nappy that looks like it will actually last until potty training. Roman is on the last rise for most other nappy brands but I think I could comfortably use the second of the three for a while.
Look and Feel
The print is absolutely beautiful and one of my favourites. This is a prototype so it doesn’t have the Bells Bumz label on it yet. Like I already mentioned, this nappy is big, which is great because I have a little chunk, so this nappy will last him until he potty trains.
The nappy feels good, the inner lining of the nappy is nice and soft, although it looks thin it is actually deceptively thick, I was initially worried it would wear out before potty training but if you feel it and look from the inside of the pocket, it’s actually lovely and thick so my worries disappeared instantly.
About the nappy
Bells Bumz added another opening for stuffing, at first I thought it made the nappy look a bit messy but when I put the booster in, I found the front opening more useful than I originally thought I would. You can stuff from either the front or back and move the inserts around more easily than you can with one opening.
The nappy comes with one insert- made up of 4 layers (2 hemp and 2 bamboo) and one liner. The liner has a fluffy side and a flat side- which I think is a great touch, especially with the rainbow thread! The liner is incredibly soft even after a wash, so I’m looking forward to buying more of these separately for some of my other branded nappies!
I decided to try both inserts together as they’ve only had one wash and aren’t up to full absorbency yet. The inserts are thin! Even with both inserts in, the nappy isn’t bulky which I LOVE! I’m not a fan of huge ‘boulder bums’ so this is perfect! The nappy has a double gusset sewn into the lining, which I am a huge fan of from other brands, it usually holds solids in place to prevent leakage. This was only a wet nappy so I can’t comment on how well it did for solids, but I can update this when I find out. The double gusset also helps with flooding, it holds the liquid between them so it doesn’t leak from the legs. This is great because Roman has started to hold his wee which then floods nappies and can lead to leaks.
The size of this nappy in very generous, Roman is usually on the second or last poppers around his hips for most brands, but as you can see from the photos, he has plenty of poppers left to grow into. This nappy has loads of hip poppers so it will fit a wide size variety of babies- which is fantastic! The three rise settings also help to fit smaller babies, and you can stagger the hip and leg poppers to have tighter legs and looser hips or the other way round if you have a slim baby.
How long did it last?
This was the first nappy of the day so I usually only get 2 hours until nap time (which then requires a heavy duty nappy due to flooding). Simply the Zest was on for about 2 hours and it coped incredibly well considering it’s only had ONE wash out of about 10 that are needed for full absorbency! I’m impressed because the inserts are really thin! The inserts were about 3/4 wet so they still had another 30mins to an hour left in them, which is incredible!
The inserts are still soft after one wash, so I’m interested to see if they go a little harder like my other inserts from other brands.
Will I buy more?
Absolutely! I love how thin they are on the bum and how cost effective they are! I love that there is no microfibre in the inserts and that they are super thin!
Overall impression
I love it. The print is a firm favourite and the absorbency after only one was is incredibly impressive.
Kind Regards,

I have been testing Bells Bumz BTP pockets with a view to becoming a stockist (I own Fleecy Bums- nappies and accessories)
These nappy’s are fabulous. The fit is brilliant, perfect containment and the inserts are really absorbent. The pocket in the nappy is really generous and has an opening at both ends which makes putting the inserts in really easy. They are really easy to put on (even when you have a wriggly 20 month old) and they are not bulky at all. Also and very importantly they look amazing. We have the lion one and my little boy loves it!
These nappies are amazing value for money and I have just placed my first wholesale order with Chloe this morning. I can’t wait to start selling these to my customers.

So here is the back story to me and my brand.
Sometimes it’s hard to put into words why and how on certain subjects. It’s also hard to talk about yourself and certain obstacles in life you have over come but Il do my best.
I was told at the age of 28 that even with IVF it’s highly unlikely that I would be able to carry a child of my own. This news devastated me. I have severe stage 4 endometriosis, Hypoparathyroidism, Hypocalcemia amongst a few.
So when I became pregnant at 33 this then opened up a world of emotions. Excitement, and being petrified were amongst the strongest. I was classed as high risk and also told there was a chance Zachary would not make it or he could inherit some of my genetic conditions. So immediately I stated researching everything I could think of.
The one thing that stood out were the chemicals in deposable and how these leach into your babies skin. This horrified me so I decided to look into cloth. I was determined to use cloth nappies from day one. This didn’t happen perfectly we managed half and half as I had a very traumatic labour.
After some trial and errors by about 3 months in we had just about mastered full time cloth. Not sure how we managed as Zachary fed 24 times a day and never slept. 18 months in and the naughty little sausage still doesn’t sleep.
Then when we were due to go up to the next size, me and Zachary found ourselves to be just a family of two. This obviously had a massive impact on my financial situation. I found I couldn’t afford to buy his next size up? They were just so expensive, I was devastated. I was extremely fortunate to have help from family and friends.
This got me thinking, I can’t be the only one in this situation, surely people should be able to afford to cloth their babies cute little bums without breaking the bank?
So this has now led to Zachary’s Cloth Nappies & Accessories LTD. Or as you will all know me by the “Bells Bumz” brand. My wish was to produce a well designed , good quality cloth nappy that people can afford. I hope you love them as much as we do.
I wish to support other family run businesses, hence you will find all of my stockists are family concerns. ❤️
Thank you for taking the time to read.
Stay safe everyone and look after yourselves.
